Bio

Matt Suess is an award-winning photographer whose professional photography career spans over 20 years. He started his career as a photojournalist in 1990. Published worldwide, some of his credits include: The AP, Boston Herald, Connecticut Post, National Geographic Traveler Magazine, and USA Today.

In 2003 Matt was awarded the New England Press Association’s Photographer of the Year Award for his photojournalist work throughout the year as a freelance photographer for the Cape Cod Times.

Matt is a digital photography pioneer, helping bring the first digital cameras to the Connecticut Post in the late 1990′s and assisting with the digital migration and training of staff at the Cape Cod Times.

In 2006, when he moved to Arizona, he left his career as a photojournalist behind him and has since been a full-time artist.

Currently a full-time RV’er, Matt sells his artwork at juried art festivals throughout the Southwest, taking photos and creating new work along the way.

In addition Matt teaches a number of field and classroom workshops as well as online webinars. He also maintains a popular blog that is updated almost daily with many photos as well as tips, tricks, and other photography related material.

Current projects

My current project includes photographing old cars, gas stations, and other bits of old Americana using HDR techniques. I find these old places along the road in my RV while traveling and exhibiting my work.

Upcoming Projects and Trips

Part of my main project, I want to travel along Route 66 in Arizona to photograph the old cars, old gas stations, and any other interesting things I may find along the way.
